The school has a well-established SEN department with a skilled team of teaching assistants intervention specialists and external therapists. Role Information

The school is seeking an experienced knowledgeable and passionate SENCO to lead the SEND provision and ensure all students receive outstanding support.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading and managing the SEND department including support staff

  • Overseeing EHCP processes annual reviews and parental meetings

  • Carrying out assessments observations and personalised plans

  • Liaising with teachers to ensure high-quality differentiation and adaptive teaching

  • Coordinating external agencies therapists and specialists

  • Ensuring compliance with SEND Code of Practice and statutory deadlines

  • Providing training and guidance on SEND strategies to staff

  • Monitoring intervention impact progress tracking and provision mapping

  • Overseeing Access Arrangements in collaboration with the Exams Officer

  • Ensuring high-quality communication with parents and carers

This role requires someone calm knowledgeable and capable of leading a busy department effectively.

Requirements

  • National Award for SEN Coordination (or working towards it)

  • Strong background in SEND leadership within a school

  • Excellent knowledge of SEND Code of Practice

  • Strong communication skills with staff parents and external agencies

  • Ability to analyse data write reports and manage EHCP compliance

  • Commitment to inclusion and high achievement for all learners
