Role Information

The school is seeking a skilled detail-driven Finance Officer to support the smooth and compliant running of all financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Processing purchase orders invoices and payments

  • Managing expense claims and reconciling financial transactions

  • Monitoring departmental budgets and reporting variances

  • Supporting month-end and year-end financial procedures

  • Preparing financial reports for SLT and governors

  • Managing petty cash school trip payments and parental finance queries

  • Supporting payroll processes and liaising with external payroll providers

  • Maintaining accurate financial records in line with audit requirements

  • Supporting procurement negotiating with suppliers and ensuring value for money

  • Ensuring compliance with financial policies ESFA regulations and internal controls

  • Assisting with fund allocation grants and income reconciliation

This role requires accuracy responsibility and excellent communication skills as you will interact with staff suppliers and parents regularly.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounts-based role

  • Strong numerical skills and attention to detail

  • Confident using finance software (SIMS FMS / PS Financials / Sage / Xero)

  • Ability to organise workload meet deadlines and maintain compliance

  • Excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Understanding of school finance (desirable but not essential)

  • AAT qualification or willingness to work towards one (advantageous)
