Receiving general direction from the Vice President of MGB Orthopedics & Sports Medicine and the Executive Director of Surgical Finance the Finance Director is responsible for leading and providing oversight to the following areas in the department: financial management budget and forecasting expense management and physician compensation plan. The Finance Director manages these activities through the effective direct oversight of 2-5 FTEs and assists with general administrative oversight of an additional 80 clinical professional staff. Drawing on a broad understanding of hospital and department financial operations policies and procedures and displaying a high degree of initiative and independent judgment the incumbent will collaborate closely with departmental clinical hospital and system leadership to continually assess and manage a wide range of issues.
The role is defined by the following metrics:
Corporate operating budget: approximately $15M
Hospital operating budget: approximately $25M
PO operating budget: approximately $120M
Capital budget: Variable; up to $20M/year
Directly supervises 2-5 FTEs
Indirect oversight of 200 professional research and administrative staff.
Job Summary
Works collaboratively with departmental and organizational leadership to manage the daily operations of the department or division ensuring the smooth delivery of healthcare services and overseeing key administrative functions including human resources finance compliance facilities and patient services. Helps to develop and implement operational strategies that align with the organizations mission vision and values. Leads a team of healthcare professionals and administrative staff to achieve the organizations goals.
Essential Functions:
- Develops and implements financial practices and procedures in accordance with the overarching financial strategy.
- Directs budgeting forecasting and financial analysis/reporting processes.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams/leaders to deliver actionable financial data for decision-making.
- Oversees the preparation of accurate and timely reports.
- Establishes internal and external budgetary control systems.
- Ensure that financial operations comply with all HRSA and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Develops and manages the team by ensuring that appropriate resources are available for training provides coaching/guidance to managers and staff encourages career growth conducts performance assessments and is responsible for hiring. disciplinary action and termination when necessary.

Bachelors Degree in Finance required Masters Degree Finance preferred
