Civil Project Engineer / Project Manager Location: Sioux Falls South Dakota (On-site)

Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer / Project Manager to lead and deliver transportation and utility infrastructure projects for state and local government clients. This role is ideal for a hands-on civil engineer who enjoys managing projects from early planning through final delivery while working closely with public agencies and internal technical teams.
The position focuses on transportation and/or utility design from the private consulting side supporting municipal county and state infrastructure initiatives.
Key Responsibilities -
Manage civil engineering projects from concept through construction ensuring scope schedule budget and quality objectives are met

Serve as the primary technical and project management point of contact for public-sector clients and stakeholders

Lead and mentor project engineers designers and technicians

Coordinate with state and local agencies to meet regulatory permitting and approval requirements

Perform and oversee transportation and/or utility design for municipal and DOT projects
-
Conduct site visits and field assessments to support design decisions
-
Prepare review and approve engineering plans specifications reports and cost estimates
-
Monitor project risks resolve technical challenges and implement mitigation strategies
-
Support continuous improvement collaboration and leadership development within the team
Required Qualifications -
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution

Minimum 6 years of experience in civil engineering with project management responsibilities

Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Dakota or ability to obtain within 6 months

Demonstrated experience with transportation and/or utility infrastructure projects
-
Background working with state and local government agencies from the private consulting sector

Strong knowledge of DOT standards and municipal design requirements

Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred Skills -
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D MicroStation OpenRoads or similar civil design software

Experience coordinating with DOTs municipalities and regulatory agencies

Strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
