Civil Project Manager

We are seeking an experienced Civil Project Engineer / Project Manager to lead and deliver transportation and utility infrastructure projects for state and local government clients. This role is ideal for a hands-on civil engineer who enjoys managing projects from early planning through final delivery while working closely with public agencies and internal technical teams.

The position focuses on transportation and/or utility design from the private consulting side supporting municipal county and state infrastructure initiatives.

• Manage civil engineering projects from concept through construction ensuring scope schedule budget and quality objectives are met

• Serve as the primary technical and project management point of contact for public-sector clients and stakeholders

• Lead and mentor project engineers designers and technicians

• Coordinate with state and local agencies to meet regulatory permitting and approval requirements

• Perform and oversee transportation and/or utility design for municipal and DOT projects

• Conduct site visits and field assessments to support design decisions

• Prepare review and approve engineering plans specifications reports and cost estimates

• Monitor project risks resolve technical challenges and implement mitigation strategies

• Support continuous improvement collaboration and leadership development within the team

• Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution

• Minimum 6 years of experience in civil engineering with project management responsibilities

• Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Dakota or ability to obtain within 6 months

• Demonstrated experience with transportation and/or utility infrastructure projects

• Background working with state and local government agencies from the private consulting sector

• Strong knowledge of DOT standards and municipal design requirements

• Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills

• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D MicroStation OpenRoads or similar civil design software

• Experience coordinating with DOTs municipalities and regulatory agencies
