Position Summary:To coordinate and administer student financial services for Rindge Campus graduate and undergraduate programs including reviewing aid applications administering financial aid processing institutional state federal and private aid funds counseling students and families and responding to customer service issues.Typical Schedule:Generally the hours for this exempt position are Monday through Friday. As an exempt employee your schedule may vary based on the number of hours needed to meet the job responsibilities. The individual holding this position may need to be available early morning evening and weekends to meet the needs of the department.POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Essential Functions of the Position: - Financial Aid processing and counseling for Franklin Pierce students. Review aid applications evaluate need and award financial aid in an efficient timely and accurate manner in accordance with established policies & regulations.
- Manage all aspects of federal financial aid as assigned.
- Complete federal verification. Resolve aid eligibility questions. As necessary utilize professional judgment in revising financial aid awards due to special circumstances.
- Work with assigned caseload of students and families to secure overall financing of an FP degree through federal state institutional and private financing programs.
- Update and maintain policies and procedures relevant to assigned position. Continue developing efficient and timely procedures for awarding notification and aid processing.
- Work with Athletics leadership with processing of financial aid for athletes.
- Oversee all state aid processing and reconciliation.
- Respond to customer service questions and concerns from staff faculty students and families.
- Assist in training activities for staff regarding customer service issues and regulatory and procedural topics.
- Complete and coordinate withdrawal and refund calculation (R2T4) process for designated student caseload. Ensure that all federal regulations related to refund calculations are followed.
- Maintain current knowledge of federal and state aid regulations. Maintain current knowledge of institutional awarding policies. Participate in training activities and stay current with financial aid matters.
- Other duties as assigned by the VP for Student Financial Services.
EXPECTATIONS:In this position the Assistant Director would be expected to have or possess:- Ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations relating to the University.
- Ability to deal effectively and sensitively with student financial information.
- Skills with interpreting and applying complex regulations federal and state laws and university policies.
- Excellent communication skills including verbal and professional writing skills.
- Ability to balance priorities and multi-task to accomplish assigned tasks within the required time frame.
- Proven effectiveness in dealing with a wide range of professionals staff and administrators as well as outside organizations regarding highly sensitive personal financial and/or legal matters. Frequently communicates general information to university constituency understanding that some situations may require the ability to relay complex or adverse information with tact and diplomacy.
- Skill in compiling and analyzing data and preparing reports.
- Ability to accept supervision assignments change and correction.
- Maintain and foster positive working relationships.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Incumbent must be able to successfully complete a background check.POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:Previous Experience: Three to five years of relevant administrative financial aid experience or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired. Knowledge and Education: - Bachelors degree in an appropriate discipline or at least five years of relevant experience required.
- Ability to understand and explain to others technical information in a manner that is easily understood.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word Excel and Outlook).
- Experience with PowerFaids and Jenzabar preferred.
- Excellent telephone and customer service skills.
