Role Information
The school is seeking a reliable practical and safety-focused Caretaker to join their site team.
Key Responsibilities:
Opening and closing the school site ensuring buildings are secure
Conducting daily site checks maintenance inspections and safety audits
Performing minor repairs (plumbing carpentry painting general maintenance)
Supervising contractors and ensuring work meets safety/compliance standards
Managing deliveries moving furniture and setting up rooms for events/exams
Maintaining outdoor areas: pathways car parks playgrounds sports surfaces
Monitoring heating lighting alarm systems and energy systems
Ensuring compliance with health & safety fire safety COSHH and risk assessments
Responding to emergencies callouts and urgent maintenance needs
Supporting the site manager with long-term maintenance planning

Requirements
Experience in maintenance caretaking or facilities work
Strong DIY and repair skills
Understanding of health & safety and compliance
Ability to prioritise workload and respond quickly to urgent issues
Good communication skills and teamwork
Ability to carry out physical tasks and work outdoors when necessary
Security awareness and reliability
