Educational Assistant

Connect Program Primary Location is Dr. George Johnson Middle School

6 hr/ day Educational Assistant 9:00 am 3:30 pm

Ability Skills & Qualifications

Minimum of Grade 12 or equivalent
Para Educator Certificate desired
Relevant training and experience
Course work in behavior management
Ability to work with Kindergarten to Grade 6 students who have complex communication and regulation needs
Experience or training in supporting students with Autism FASD and/or complex trauma
Knowledge of sensory-informed and regulation-based classroom practices
Experience using AAC visual supports and structured teaching strategies
Knowledge and experience with Tier 2 and Tier 3 reading interventions
Demonstrable computer/technology skills
Valid drivers license and clean driver abstract

Responsibilities:

assistance with instruction
assistance to students (may include dressing feeding toileting)
facilitating the transport of students between different education sites
supervising and accompanying students during field trips or off-site work/recreational experiences.
