About the position
Would you like to work with renewable energy and help finance the energy transition in frontier and emerging markets
As Senior Investment Manager you will be part of our Renewable Energy team in Johannesburg with a focus on investments in Southern Africa.
The team invests in companies and projects within the renewable energy space ranging from investments in generation and transmission projects to micro grids home solar systems and rooftop solar line with Norfunds mandate we will invest in commercially viable companies that operate in a socially and environmentally responsible manner.
The successful candidate must have a proven track record of working both in teams and independently and be a value adding resource. You will be included in the project teams on a range of investments and will report to the Regional Director for Southern Africa.

Responsibilities and task
- Lead and participate in transaction teams through the full investment cycle from initial screening of opportunities due diligence execution of transactions to portfolio management and exit
- Sourcing and identifying new investment opportunities for Norfund
- Appraisal of investment proposals with emphasis on valuation risks and risk mitigation. Leading in due diligence processes.
- Deal structuring and negotiations
- Prepare internal investment documentation and present to investment committee and board with support from transaction team
- Manage demanding project partnerships and co-investor relationships
- Represent Norfund at conferences and other external forums
- Financial analysis valuation modelling
- Updating of portfolio management system
Qualifications and personal qualities
- Bachelors or higher in business economics finance or equivalent with a strong academic record
- Extensive experience in investment roles 10 years with a proven track record in managing complex projects and making strategic decisions.
- Expert knowledge of equity investments including knowledge of debt transactions and security structures
- Advanced financial expertise and strong leadership skills particularly in guiding teams and managing stakeholders
- Experience from Norfunds investment geographies
- Strong analytical skills and a high level of accuracy
- Result oriented and with a structured proactive and efficient work style
- Excellent communication skills in English
