We are seeking an early years professional who:

  • Is a skilled and experienced leader of teams with demonstrated success in team building culture change performance improvement and complex relationship management
  • Is a specialist in long day care someone who speaks fluent infant & toddler and in the next breath can respond to complicated science and technology questions from kindergarteners and knows how to extinguish a volcano!
  • Knows their early years pedagogy and understands what excellence looks like
  • Wants to see exemplary practice every day achieving the best outcomes for children families and team members

This is a Centre Director role at our Whittlesea Early Learning Centre working alongside a supportive Area Manager and the Sparkways multifunction Head Office support team.

As Director your vision will align with the philosophy of the Centre and your passion will be to work collaboratively with your team to bring that philosophy to life. The Director is responsible for all day-to-day management of the centre and contributes to the broader strategic plans. People leadership is your strength.

About the Centre

Sparkways Early Learning Whittlesea is a welcoming and community-minded childcare centre offering a safe and nurturing environment for children to explore learn and grow.

We provide programs for children aged six weeks to school age including:

  • Long day care
  • Integrated government-funded three- and four-year-old kindergarten
  • A separate sessional kindergarten
  • Located in a close-knit community the centre is co-located with the local Library and sits across from the Whittlesea Community Garden.

Practicalities

  • Permanent full-time
  • RDO every 4 weeks
  • Circa $110000 per annum (subject to experience)
  • Career opportunities across the Sparkways community of Early Learning Centres and Sessional Kindergartens

We Are Looking For

  • A positive and energetic role model
  • Substantial experience in a leadership position within the early childhood education and care sector
  • Demonstrated positive results in staff and community leadership
  • Confidence in having difficult conversations with families and staff members
  • Strong competency in administration rostering and enrolment management
  • Experience in both long day care and sessional kindergarten environments (highly regarded)
  • An approved Diploma of ECEC or higher relevant qualification with a record of continuous professional development
  • Demonstrated understanding and practical application of the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework
  • High-level oral and written communication skills
