EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

35 years of experience in agricultural or commercial lending credit analysis portfolio management or relationship management required. Bachelors degree in Finance Agricultural Economics Business Administration or a related field understanding of agribusiness operations and financial structures preferred. Experience within the Farm Credit System or a related agricultural credit organization preferred including familiarity with Farm Credit System borrower rights and loan litigation certifications in credit lending or agricultural finance (e.g. CRC CBA or equivalent) preferred.

JOB SUMMARY

The Credit Relationship Specialist II - CommAg is responsible for managing a portfolio of complex high-risk and criticized commercial agricultural loans that Capital Farm Credit may agent and sell via syndication or participation. The portfolio also includes capital markets relationships to which Capital Farm Credit is not agent but is a syndicate member or participant. The primary focus of this role is to maximize recovery minimize credit losses and support borrowers in regaining financial viability through proactive and strategic credit management.

This role involves comprehensive oversight of operating loans including monitoring draw schedules budget performance and the appropriate application of proceeds. Developing and executing complex restructuring strategies tailored to the unique needs of commercial ag borrowers including forbearance agreements repayment plans and innovative credit solutions. Assist in the development and execution of liquidation strategies foreclosure proceedings and bankruptcy case management in close coordination with legal counsel ensuring full compliance with regulatory and internal policy requirements.

Working collaboratively with lending teams the Credit Relationship Manager II - CommAg evaluates borrower viability and leads efforts to return accounts to performing status. Provides expert guidance to credit analysts and relationship managers on loan terms pricing documentation and risk mitigation strategies particularly for loans exhibiting significant or emerging credit weaknesses.

In addition to managing CRG-assigned loans also serves as a specialized resource for criticized volume not yet assigned to CRG. They act as a key influencer with borrowers and internal stakeholders helping to stabilize accounts approaching distress status. May serve as the primary customer contact or work behind the scenes with the lending team to develop the appropriate approach. Their responsibilities include establishing and maintaining sound credit and loan administration practices ensuring proper loan structure pricing and terms to manage risk effectively.

The Credit Relationship Manager II - CommAg also serves as the primary compliance officer on assigned loans ensuring adherence to settlement laws regulatory requirements and internal procedures. They monitor loan performance manage follow-up actions and ensure timely efficient service to internal and external stakeholders. The officer is responsible for gathering and analyzing customer financial dataincluding balance sheets income statements cash flows and collateral valuationsand preparing detailed reports on loan performance asset status and recovery progress.

As a subject matter expert in commercial and capital markets lending distressed borrower management and complex agribusiness operations the CRG Relationship Officer operates with minimal oversight. They demonstrate strong creativity strategic thinking and sound judgment in managing their portfolio and play a critical role in protecting the organizations financial interests while supporting long-term borrower success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Manage a portfolio of complex high-risk and criticized commercial agricultural loans including capital markets and large-scale agribusiness operations with a focus on recovery risk mitigation and borrower rehabilitation.
  • Update syndicate members and participants of sold loans on borrower conversations collection plans and other events.
  • Monitor operating loans for compliance with draw schedules budget adherence and application of proceeds to ensure proper use of funds and early identification of risk.
  • Develop and execute distressed loan strategies such as forbearance agreements repayment plans restructuring proposals and creative credit solutions tailored to complex ag operations.
  • Coordinate liquidation plans foreclosure processes and bankruptcy case management in collaboration with legal counsel and internal stakeholders.
  • Evaluate borrower viability and partner with lending teams to restore accounts to performing status through financial counseling and strategic engagement.
  • Advise credit analysts and lenders on loan structure pricing documentation and risk management for distressed or trending accounts.
  • Proactively stabilize criticized volume not yet assigned to SAG focusing on accounts nearing OAEM classification.
  • Serve as the primary customer contact or support lenders in developing and implementing appropriate credit strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies regulatory requirements and settlement laws acting as the compliance lead for assigned loans.
  • Analyze borrower financialsincluding income statements balance sheets cash flows collateral valuations and performance trendsto inform credit decisions and structure appropriate terms.
  • Prepare and present reports on loan performance asset status and recovery progress to management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with Deal Team members to gather borrower data and design innovative credit packages aligned with customer needs and risk tolerance.
  • Mentor junior Credit Resolution Group officers and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.
  • Communicate complex financial and credit concepts in clear actionable terms to borrowers and internal teams to ensure accountability and execution.
  • Maintain awareness of industry trends market conditions and borrower performance to identify emerging risks.
  • Maintain detailed records loan documentation and relationship management data in accordance with Association standards.
  • Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of FCA regulations and Association policies with ongoing awareness of social economic governmental and environmental factors impacting agriculture.

REQUIRED SKILLS
