Job Summary
Job Description Summary
The primary purpose of this position is oversight of the Asheville- Buncombe- Madison ( ABM ) Works high school pre-apprentices and act as the liaison between the educational economic and business/industry partnership for Asheville-Buncombe-Madison Works. The Workforce Development Specialist ( WDS ) will work with business and industry to determine employment needs and coordinate efforts to place student pre-apprentices in work-based learning experiences such as internships and apprenticeships.
Duties
1. Facilitates and coordinates business/industry/education meetings overseeing recruitment and retention (both of students and business partners). 2. Develops relationships with students and families to guide students to success. 3. Coordinates and oversees support services. 4. Contributes to the College Vision Mission Values and RISE statement. 5. Supports workforce diversity in all its aspects. 6. Performs other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
1. Career development or other related experience. 2. Experience working with high school students. 3. Proficiency in a foreign language such as Spanish an East Slavic language and/or American Sign Language.
