Admissions Student Ambassador / Tour Guide

GENERAL SUMMARY

Admissions Student Ambassadors serve as official representatives of the University of Sioux Falls and support recruitment efforts by providing a high-quality campus visit experience. Ambassadors share accurate information about academic programs student life and institutional values while fostering positive relationships with prospective students and their families. Compensation includes an hourly student employment rate professional development opportunities valuable leadership experience public speaking practice and résumé building.

MAJOR FUNCTIONS

• Represent the University of Sioux Falls in a professional and courteous manner
• Lead individual and group campus tours
• Communicate accurate information regarding academic programs housing student life and campus resources
• Share the universitys mission history and traditions
• Facilitate engagement between prospective students current students faculty and staff
• Participate in recruitment events including Preview Days Accepted Student Days and special visits
• Assist with student panels and visit programming
• Maintain familiarity with university policies procedures and services
• Complete required training and ongoing professional development
• Commit to two to six weekly tour shifts (MondayFriday 9:00 a.m.4:00 p.m.)
• Work two designated Saturday visit days per semester
• Attend one annual Ambassador retreat/orientation
• Attend two evening meetings per semester
• Assist with major recruitment events as scheduled

QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student at the University of Sioux Falls in good academic standing maintaining a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 (or institutional standard) and free of academic or disciplinary probation.
• Demonstrated strong oral communication skills including the ability to clearly articulate information about academic programs student life admissions processes and campus resources to prospective students and families.
• Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to engage comfortably and professionally with diverse audiences including high school students parents counselors alumni and university staff.
• Consistent record of reliability and punctuality including the ability to arrive on time for scheduled tours events and training sessions and manage assigned responsibilities without supervision.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage tour schedules track visitor information accurately and follow established communication protocols.
• Ability to work both independently (e.g. leading individual campus tours) and collaboratively as part of the Admissions team during group visits and special recruitment events.
• Confidence and poise in public speaking including the ability to present to groups of 520 visitors while maintaining energy clarity and professionalism.
• Demonstrated interest in supporting university enrollment goals through positive representation of campus culture academic excellence and institutional values.
• Physical ability to walk designated campus tour routes (approximately 12 miles per tour) multiple times per shift.
• Ability to stand and speak continuously for 3060 minutes during tours or recruitment events.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat cold wind or light precipitation while maintaining professionalism and enthusiasm.
