License/Certification:Teaching license- Ohio teacher or non-tax licensure: Science Teacher (9-12). ACSI teaching certificate is required; however it may be obtained after hire. Teaching Physical Science Biology Anatomy and Physiology and Chemistry.
Background Check:Acceptable BCI and FBI report.

The science department exists to equip students with a Bible-based perspective of science through instructional skills emphasizing inquiry problem-solving critical thinking observations and experiments to ultimatelyprepare them for life-long learning.

Teacher Responsibilities:
  1. Deliver a Christ-centered hands on and experimentalapproach to education.
  2. Engage with professional learning that promotes collaboration.
  3. Develop lesson plans in accordance with the MCS curriculum.
  4. Incorporate multidisciplinarylesson planning.
  5. Understand that there is an ongoing process of development for innovative practices in education and work to stay current with teaching methods.
  6. Use and interpret student data including formative and summative assessments to monitor learning as well as develop and implement differentiated lessons for students.
  7. Incorporate current technology into instruction to enhance student learning when appropriate.
  8. Communicateeffectivelyboth orally andin writing.
  9. Conduct oneself in a professional manner: personable well-organized self-initiating and attentive to details.
  10. Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules administrative regulations and Board Policy.
  11. Utilize pedagogical approaches that include but are not limited to Socratic questioning adult and peer coaching peer presentations problem-based learning inquiry methods and other forms of active learning.
  12. Prepare substitute teachers folder to help ensure a smooth delivery of the daily lesson plan in the absence of the regular teacher.
  13. Attend IEP conferences when necessary. Work cooperatively with the Intervention team in assessing student needs and learning deficienciesand develop alternative solutions to remediate student learning and behavior problems.
  14. Attend staff meetings and district professional development programs. Participate in grade level/departmental and teacher/principal conferences as scheduled.
  15. Enforce the Code of Conduct governing students in his/her direct charge and for assuming authority as warranted over other students in such areas as school hallways cafeteria chapel assemblies or other activities during the school day.
  16. Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining a classroomenvironment conducive to learning for all students.
  17. Conduct conferences with individual students and/or parents when deemed necessary or upon request.
  18. Actively and cooperatively participate in the required teacher evaluation process.
  19. Communicate about the educational program at MCS to the community in a positive professional manner.
  20. Uphold MCS policies and procedures.
  21. Perform other duties tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
Additional working conditions may include:
  1. Occasional exposure to blood bodily fluids and tissue.
  2. Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions.
  3. May have interaction with an unruly student.
  4. Occasionally lift carry push and pull various items up to a maximum of 40 pounds (100 pounds on wheels) e.g. paper boxes deliveries of supplies and equipment.
  5. Travels to meetings/professional development and work assignments.
