Job Summary

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Dean of Students the Residential Advisor for Student Leadership plays a vital
role in enhancing student life through dynamic programming and student-centered support within the
residential environment. This live-in role would be perfect for a student in a masters program in a
related field! This position focuses on fostering a vibrant residential community by assisting with the
planning and execution of residential procedures and operations. Additionally the Advisor
contributes to Student Affairs efforts and participates in a week-long crisis response rotation helping to
create an inclusive engaging and supportive campus environment. The compensation package includes
on campus housing and a $14000 yearly stipend.

Essential Job Functions:

Residence Life & Operational Coverage
â Serve as a live-in staff member within the residence halls.
â Provide second shift third shift and weekend coverage to ensure consistent staffing.
â Serve on a week-long crisis response rotation responding to student concerns and incidents.
â Support residence hall community-building efforts in collaboration with Resident Assistants.
â Serve as an after-hours point of contact for housing-related concerns.

Student Leadership & Advising
Support and co-advise the Student Government Association (SGA) and Royal Court.
Assist with leadership development programs retreats and governance training.
Support student leaders with meetings initiatives and campus programming.
Maintain records related to leadership engagement and participation.

Student Support & Crisis Response
Respond to student behavioral safety and wellness concerns using a student-centered approach.
Assist professional staff with documentation referrals and follow-up related to incidents.
Uphold university policies and contribute to a safe residential environment.
Provide on-site event support and logistical coordination as assigned.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
â Bachelors degree required active pursuit of a Masters degree preferred in Student Affairs Higher
Education or a related field.
â 2 years of experience in student programming leadership development or housing and residence
life preferred.
â Strong organizational and communication skills.

commitment and experience in achieving goals and pursuing excellence is critical. Strong oral and written
presentation skills. Ability to work well independently and as a member of a team. Excellence in organization
decision-making problem-solving and creating a collaborative environment. Ability to manage multiple projects
simultaneously. Must be able to read write and speak fluently in English.

â Knowledge of Student activities and engagement best practices strongly preferred.
â Student work and leadership experience on a collegiate campus setting within a private institution or
college within Higher Education preferred
â Knowledge of the trends in engagement and student attractions and partnership building for Higher
Education. Event planning experience is a plus.
â Ability to produce training materials in a variety of formats using the latest industry tools.
â Knowledge of modern computing networking and communications systems and skill in use of technology
applications.
â Ability to adapt and flexibly serving various university constituent groups is key.
â Complete all duties assigned by their department supervisor in a timely and professional manner.
â Maintain confidentiality with sensitive academic and administrative information.
â Attend mandatory trainings meetings or development workshops as assigned.
â GAs are expected to be role models to undergraduate students and demonstrate ethical respectful and
professional behavior at all times.
â Adhere to all University codes of conduct including but not limited to the Student Handbook Employee
Handbook and Residence Life policies.
â Comply with all Housing and Residence Life regulations including quiet hours guest policies and room
inspections.
â Possession or use of alcohol tobacco or controlled substances on campus is strictly prohibited.
â Must keep living areas clean safe and respectful of shared spaces and community standards.
â Any breach of confidentiality may result in immediate termination.
â Familiarity with copyright and intellectual property standards for course development.
â Knowledge of ADA requirements in collegiate facilities.
â Effective communication both verbal and written thoughts ideas and facts. Writes and presents
information in a clear and concise way. Interprets and understands written information and is able to
listen attentively to verbal and non-verbal cues that lead to a deeper understanding. Must be fluent in
English.
â Be innovative strategic and leverage technology to assist with building developing and facilitating a
successful residential education program
â Work cooperatively with others and demonstrates professional ethical respectful and courteous
behavior when interacting with others. Capable of interacting pleasantly and positively with other to meet
student faculty and staff expectations and provide follow up with customers.
â Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to manage multiple projects meet deadlines
and initiate follow-up action as necessary. Attention to detail is essential.
â Ability to explain complex technical concepts to audiences with varying levels of technology experience
â Attends the workplace regularly reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with
the demands of the worksite.
â Ability to perform duties in a diverse work environment

Physical Demands
Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours/day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally) bending and carrying.
The employee is regularly required to talk and hear and to use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
