Job Description

The Department of Biology invites applications for a one-year full-time temporary faculty position to begin August 10 2026. We seek a colleague qualified to teach lecture and lab for undergraduate Human Anatomy & Physiology I (BIOL 310) and Human Anatomy & Physiology II (BIOL 311) at Radford Universitys Roanoke site. We seek an instructor who will deliver high-quality engaging instruction and support student success through active learning assessment and accessible office hours.

A typical teaching load is one to two sections of lecture and two to three sections of lab (up to 15 contact hours per week). Instructors may teach both BIOL 310 and A&P II BIOL 311 in the same semester. The position will include teaching responsibilities in both Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 in Roanoke Virginia. Anatomy and Physiology courses in Roanoke serve a range of health-focused undergraduate students including Nursing EMS and Respiratory Therapy majors.

The Department of Biology actively supports our instructors with access to professional development opportunities through Radfords Center for Innovative Teaching and Learning and encourage participation in departmental college and university-wide events.

Required Qualifications

All faculty must have at least a Masters degree in Biology or a related field/discipline in which they are teaching with 18 hours of course work related to the course(s) being some cases subject to the approval by the Provost a faculty member could be recommended for appointment based on substitution of significant experience for the degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous teaching experience.
