DescriptionTheSupervisor Environmental Health and Safetywill be responsible for providing day-to-day EHS leadership in planning and implementing best practices to protect employees customers and the environment.
This position will serve our US Air Division located inFort Smith Arkansas.
ResponsibilitiesSafety & Compliance
- Assist with incident investigations including initial data gathering interviews and documentation.
- Conduct daily safety walkthroughs of work areas to identify and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions.
- Manage near-miss reporting follow-ups ensuring corrective actions are logged and escalating trends as needed.
- Track and monitor corrective actions from audits until closure.
- Organize and facilitate safety committee meetings including scheduling agendas and minutes.
- Conduct ergonomic assessments and recommend workstation adjustments.
- Maintain first aid kits and AEDs ensuring supplies are stocked and equipment is functional.
- Compile and maintain OSHA 300 logs for injury and illness reporting.
- Lead Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) team activities.
- Assist in creating and implementing emergency response plans.
- Lead the Emergency Response Team (ERT) for the facility.
Environmental Programs
- Perform routine sampling and monitoring (air water waste) to ensure compliance with permits and regulations.
- Coordinate with waste disposal vendors ensure that manifests are accurate and vendors are certified. Collect
- Collect and compile ESG (Environmental Social and Governance) data (e.g. energy water waste metrics) for reporting purposes.
- Track energy and water usage compiling data from meters and systems.
- Lead waste diversion and recycling programs including vendor coordination and reporting diversion rates.
- Update sustainability dashboards (e.g. ESG workbook Tableau) to provide leadership with real-time insights. Security & Access Control
- Monitor daily access control logs badge swipes and entry records.
- Conduct badge audits and review access permissions revoking as necessary. Log
- Log and draft reports for minor security incidents.
- Monitor CCTV footage for anomalies or safety hazards.
- Perform perimeter checks to ensure gates fences and doors are secure.
- Maintain visitor logs and ensure compliance with sign-in procedures.
Engagement & Culture
- Support employee engagement in safety and sustainability initiatives.
- Assist with awareness campaigns surveys and events that promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
Other Duties
- Perform additional operational or routine EHS Security and Sustainability tasks as assigned.
- Provide input on budget.
- Enter requisitions for projects and other needs for department.
Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Industrial Hygiene Occupational and Environmental Health Science engineering or related field from four-year college or university or equivalent education
- 5 years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment required
- Prefer someone who has high volume steel/metal manufacturing fabrication experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of governmental program requirements regarding OSHA EPA ADEM NFPA NEC and others
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to get on the floor identify and analyze problems develop solutions and execute corrective actions
- Must be a team player and have the ability to work in a team environment
- Effective oral and written communication skills including public presentation ability
- Proficient in computer skills (Word Excel and Power Point)
- Self-motivated with little or no supervision
