Job Summary

Under immediate supervision incumbents perform duties at the sub-journey level while receiving training for advancement to an entry-level professional class. This class may be used for entry into State Land Agent Personnel Analyst Training Officer and other professional series in any department of State government. (NOTE: The Fiscal/Business Professional Trainee class is used for entry into the Budget Analyst Management Analyst Investment Analyst Financial Institutions Examiner Accountant and Auditor series that are related to management of State government resources.)

Essential Qualifications

A Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in any field; OR two years of journey level technical or paraprofessional experience in the field in which the applicant is to be trained.

Job Duties

The Nevada Division of Environmental Protections Office of Human Resources in Carson City is seeking a Staff Professional Trainee underfill for a Personnel Analyst 1 position to manage payroll functions while overseeing special leave programs such as Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Paid Family Leave and Catastrophic Leave along with recruitment collective bargaining units transaction approvals and assisting with personnel actions. This position also coordinates Americans with Disabilities Act accommodation requests and plays a key role in ensuring compliance with state and federal employment policies. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented highly organized and committed to supporting employees and supervisors through accurate payroll administration effective leave management and responsive HR services. This position serves as an HR generalist and as such requires professional judgment high-level analytical skills and independent decision making to ensure compliance with state and federal policies while supporting the agencys workforce. Selected candidate must be able to pass a criminal background check. This position is full-time and in-person only at our Carson City location.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:problem solving techniques; research techniques; basic mathematics; organizational principles.

Ability to: write grammatically correct business correspondence; read and understand technical information related to the profession; communicate verbally to express ideas and explain problems/solutions/findings; analyze problems and develop logical solutions; interact effectively with clients and/or staff from a variety of backgrounds.
