Job Summary

Southern Industrial Constructors is looking for a Regional QA / QC Director for our Raleigh and Greensboro region. This role establishes and oversees the company departmental quality program for policies procedures while also conveying quality improvement tools to all departments of the company. Establishes quality and reliability standards by studying product and consumer requirements with other members of management and with production operators technicians and engineers. Establishes rework standards by devising inspection and physical testing methods and procedures.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Takes actions necessary to ensure company understands and implements the following:

      • Corporate Quality Program
      • Customer specifications
      • Governing construction Codes
      • Quality Plans
      • Quality Roles and Responsibilities
      • Quality training & orientation (Department and Company)
      • ITPs (Inspection & Test Plans)
      • SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures)
      • NDE Procedures per the scope of work
      • Welding Procedures
      • System Turnover Processes
      • TOPS software (Turn-Over Process System)
      • ASME and/or NBIC code stamp program including triennial renewals.
      • Promote the awareness of the Quality program to the company and disseminates information accordingly.
      • Ensures Quality Program policies practices responsibilities are current with Code requirements Industry advancements and/or Company improvements.
      • Develops internal audit program and participates in both internal and external audits .
      • Assists in review and approval of third party vendors or subcontractors.
      • Aggregates all documentation certifications procedures and other items so that duplication of effort is avoided within company.
      • Works with Assistant Quality Director to see that program implemented.
      • Ensure that Measure and Testing Equipment is correctly maintained and kept in calibration.
      • Ensures Quality Program policies practices responsibilities are current with Code requirements Industry advancements and/or Company improvements.
      • Develops internal audit program and participates in both internal and external audits .
      • Assists in review and approval of third party vendors or subcontractors.
      • Aggregates all documentation certifications procedures and other items so that duplication of effort is avoided within company.
      • Works with Assistant Quality Director to see that program implemented.
      • Ensure that Measure and Testing Equipment is correctly maintained and kept in calibration.
      • Reviews specifications pre-bid to positively influence project budgets.
      • Participates in Lessons Learned.
      • Ensures that quality documentation records are retained in electronic storage for future retrieval.
      • Works with the Organization to improve systems and systems performance.
      • Tracks and trends Quality Metrics.
      • Creates and maintains Corporate Code and Standard library.
      • Demonstrate understanding of Corporate Values and Guiding Principles of SIC.
      • Develop and maintain strong interpersonal skills as well as communication time management and other skills necessary for effective management.
      • Actively participate in training opportunities.
      • Mentor staff within the department.
      • Be cognizant of marketing opportunities with Clients.
      • Fosters Client relationships.
      • Establishes Quality goals.
      • Cultivates Corporate values and principles to the department.
      • Creates and manages departmental budget.

Qualifications

  • 20 years experience in construction industry.
  • 10 years experience in Quality role with 10 years experience in managing Quality Professionals.
  • Certified Welding Inspector with AWS.
  • Attains and maintains applicable Quality Certifications.
  • Development of procedures process and practice.
  • High school diploma (required).
  • B.S. in Engineering/Construction Management (preferred).
  • Additional coursework training and/or certification are also required.
  • Experience with numerous welding processes:
      • GTAW; SMAW; GMAW/FCAW; Orbital Welding; and other types of bonding/joining processes.
  • Researches technological advancements in welding and inspection equipment/supplies.
  • Strong service orientation outstanding organizational skills flexibility and professionalism.
  • Excellent verbal communication as well as written skills.
  • Knowledge of various construction Codes construction trades construction practices means and methods.
  • Effective time management strong detail orientation and accuracy.
  • Ability to work productively with a diverse team and provide customer service.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a constantly changing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products Excel Word Outlook; technical aptitude to learn internal systems.

Work Environment

Conditions include working in office shop jobsites busy traffic areas and warehouses. Occasional exposure to dirt dust grease oil vibrations and adverse weather conditions. Must be able to safely access all areas of property. Must be able to effectively use any required PPE equipment.

The employee may be required to stand walk stoop kneel lift carry pull grasp sit or bend over for extended periods. The employee must be able to lift carry and move up to 30 pounds as needed. Employees in this position must be able to walk around indoor and outdoor job sites with distances up to ten miles on uneven paved gravel dirt or sandy surfaces
