Position Summary

The School-Based Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for screening evaluating and providing therapeutic services to students with speech language and communication disorders that impact educational performance. The SLP collaborates closely with educators families and multidisciplinary teams to support student success through the development and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Purpose of the Position

  • Screen assess and identify students with communication disorders

  • Determine eligibility for special education speech-language services

  • Develop and implement IEP goals and objectives

  • Provide direct and indirect speech-language therapy services

  • Support academic access and functional communication within the educational setting

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct speech-language evaluations and re-evaluations

  • Develop implement and manage IEPs in compliance with state and federal regulations

  • Provide direct therapy services to students individually or in groups

  • Monitor student progress and adjust treatment plans as needed

  • Provide indirect services consultation and support to teachers parents and para-educators

  • Develop treatment plans and provide direction to para-educators

  • Participate in IEP meetings staff meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions

  • Maintain accurate timely documentation and student records

  • Ensure compliance with IDEA state education codes and district policies

Credentialing & Licensure Requirements

  • ASHA Certification (CCC-SLP) required

  • California Speech-Language Pathology license required

  • California Teaching Credential (CTC) preferred

    • OR Masters degree in Communication Disorders or Speech-Language Pathology

    • District support available for obtaining an Education Code (Ed Code) certification

Fingerprinting & Onboarding Requirements

  • Candidate must complete client-required fingerprinting on-site prior to start date

  • Candidate must be willing to arrive at least one week before the assignment start date

  • Start date may be delayed if fingerprinting is not completed on time

Out-of-State Candidate Guidelines

  • Candidates currently participating in third-party paid licensure programs or independently pursuing CTC certification may not be eligible

  • Additional guidance available through account management prior to submission

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior school-based SLP experience

  • Experience working with IEP teams and special education programs

  • Strong organizational documentation and time-management skills

Professional Competencies

  • Student-centered and collaborative approach

  • Effective communication with students families and school staff

  • Ability to manage a full-time school-based caseload independently
