Qualifications:
Masters degree in the area of administration and/or a related area
Valid Texas Teaching Certification
Valid Principal Certification preferred
A minimum of five years of successful teaching experience including leadership experience
Extensive knowledge of curriculum design instructional strategies assessment and professional development in the area of Career and Technical Education
Ability to work successfully in a collaborative team environment
Ability to supervise and evaluate the work of others
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Primary Purpose:
Provide leadership in the coordination and monitoring of the Districts Career and Technical Education programs including the direction and oversight of funding associated with these programs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and oversee the Districts Career and Technical Education program.
- Assist in the provision of instructional leadership necessary to assure effective development and delivery of a comprehensive Career and Technical Education program.
- Supervise and allocate staff to effectively manage the Districts Career and Technical Education program.
- Work with business and industry partners to determine the need for and extent of training for existing and future employment opportunities for students.
- Promote the Districts Career and Technical Education program to the community.
- Assist in planning for new and additional career and technical programs and facilities.
- Work with appropriate state agencies for program approval and financial support and execution of contracts related to program areas.
- Support effective instruction and the continuing development and improvement of a comprehensive and inclusive Career and Technical Education program including services and activities.
- Develop and implement training and professional development for all Career and Technical Education teaching personnel.
- Assist principals in interviewing and selection of Career and Technical Education personnel.
- Recommend and oversee an annual budget for the Districts Career and Technical Education program.
- Manage the General Operating Fund federal grant (Perkins) and Activity Financial Accounts for all TEA approved Career and Technical Education programs in the District.
- Assist in preparing bid specifications for equipment and supplies for Career and Technical Education programs and preparing the paperwork necessary to make appropriate purchases.
- Approve requisitions and supervise the preparation of purchase orders for the expenditure of career and technical education funds.
- Serve as a consultant to campus and district staff on matters pertaining to CTE education
- Establish student admission criteria and placement procedures for each CTE instructional program.
- Coordinate the Districts self-evaluation of CTE programs annually.
- Maintain an active CTE General Advisory Council inclusive of members representing the 14 Texas Career Clusters post-secondary education special education English Learners Counseling parent student and teacher.
- Plan and implement the Katy ISD Progress and Livestock Show including but not limited to review of show rules and regulations animal selection processes and show schedule.
- Maintain close cooperation with local community colleges to develop dual credit opportunities for students.
- Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning.

Working Conditions:
Physical demands/environment factors: May require standing for long periods of time and moderate lifting. Frequent stooping bending pulling and pushing. Work with frequent interruptions maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
