Sanford Health Foundation is seeking a Development Officer to advance the mission of Sanford Health by building relationships and securing philanthropic gifts that transform patient care in the Bismarck region. Key Responsibilities:
Build and steward meaningful relationships with corporate partners grateful patients and community leaders; solicit gifts that align donor interests with organizational priorities.

Lead fundraising initiatives that support priority service lines and projects including special events hospital/clinic engagement employee giving third party partnerships and more.

Collaborate closely with Foundation operations and marketing regional clinical teams and leaders to ensure seamless donor engagement.

Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset by identifying new opportunities for philanthropic support and designing creative approaches to inspire giving.

Qualifications & Skills:
Strong understanding of fundraising strategies including special events grateful patient engagement clinician engagement and corporate partnerships.

Highly organized detail-oriented and skilled at managing multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Flexible and adaptable - able to pivot quickly to meet urgent or evolving priorities.

Service driven with the ability to build trust and foster long-term relationships across diverse stakeholders.

Self-starter with initiative creativity and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a dedicated team.

Exceptional written verbal and listening communication skills; comfortable presenting to groups engaging with community leaders and serving as a spokesperson for the mission.

Summary

Carries out a variety of healthcare development opportunities. Key responsibilities in development administration donor recognition annual fund major gift and special event coordination.

Job Description

Additional responsibilities include writing for donor communication making personal contacts with and soliciting gifts from corporate donors and prospects leading specific fundraising campaigns and collaborating with support team. Has an entrepreneurial spirit to identify and implement development opportunities as well as self-initiating skills and desires.

Possess strong written verbal and listening communication skills. Must be a strong public speaker in front of groups and working with media. Knowledgeable of development strategies and skills pertinent to making personal solicitations. Well organized with the ability to work well with interruptions and stress. Possesses flexibility and adaptability skills which help to accommodate changing situations and workloads. Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects to completion and possess a strong sense of customer service.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree required.

Two years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising/development marketing sales and/or journalism special event planning preferred.
