Job Summary
The Drafter II works to independently produce drawings from markups and verbal direction provided by engineers designers and others and works closely with supervisor to ensure adherence to established standards and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Adopt positive attitude of accountability by providing reliable constructible affordable and timely solutions (RCAT) resulting in Providence being the Engineer of Choice.
Review job and communicate estimated amount of time needed to complete tasks.
Communicate with engineer actual time spent versus scheduled time.
Manage weekly task list using company-approved software.
Communicate with engineers if tasks are not received within an established timeframe.
Coordinate additional task list items with engineer to advance schedule as needed.
Notify supervisor if additional tasks are needed after coordination with engineers on the weekly task list.
Produce drawings from markups provided by engineer designer or others.
Backcheck produced work against markup.
Ensure adherence to established CAD and Revit standards including sheet order detail order and appropriate detail usage.
Accompany engineer designer or other members of team on site visits.
Comply with company policies and procedures.
Support Drafter I in absence of Designer level support.
Participate in continuing education webinars and education sessions.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Knowledge Experience and Skills
Associates degree in Computer Aided Drafting or a closely related field
3 or more years of related experience
Ability to read and understand markups and plan documents
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Willing to learn new programs as required and to remain current on existing programs
Ability to receive constructive criticism and feedback
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to collaborate with others across the organization in multiple locations to gather data complete plan documents brainstorm ideas and implement improvements
Ability to identify essential engineering and/or building components and communicate missing information and/or questionable markups to engineers and/or designers
Proficient with AutoCAD Revit and Bluebeam or other pdf software
