Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY
The Intern Embedded Software System and Test Engineer will report to the Senior Engineering Director heading our Irvine Engineering team. The successful individual in this role will learn and assist with embedded software development debugging and testing for our advanced MIMO MANET radios for different applications.
This internship is fully onsite Monday through Friday at Silvus Technologies Irvine office in the heart of Irvine near the vibrant Irvine Spectrum.
The following is a list of at least some of the current essential functions of this internship opportunity.
ROLES RESPONSIBILITIES AND LEARNING OUTCOMES
- Embedded firmware development implementation testing and debugging for Silvus StreamCaster radios.
- Development of firmware testing environments and scripts.
- Opportunities to further engage learn and develop skills as projects progress.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- In-progress Bachelors degree or preferably in-progress graduate degree in Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Computer Science or other related technical fields.
- Ability to work independently upon receiving instruction/feedback take initiative and effectively interact with cross-functional teams and customers.
- Proficiency with PC office applications.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with customers and the internal team.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to clients under U.S. government contracts.
- All employment is contingent upon the successful clearance of a background check and drug testing.
PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Experience with AMD/Xilinx FPGAs and ARM processor cores.
- Working knowledge of wireless communications and networking protocols.
- Understanding of communication systems and signal processing algorithms including areas such as channel estimation beamforming etc.
WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Indoor air-conditioned facility.
- Some outdoor fieldwork.
- Lift equipment up to 50 lbs. for the setup of demonstration and testing.
- Walking/Moving in the lab.
COMPENSATION: $28.60 - $33.80 / hourly in-progress Bachelors degree
COMPENSATION: $42.00 / hourly in-progress graduate degree
Basic Requirements
