Job Summary
A leading investment business is looking to appoint an Economist to support the fixed Income investment process with a strong focus on South African and global macroeconomic developments as well as African economies within an investment portfolio.
This is a high-visibility role suited to someone who is naturally curious well-spoken research-driven and able to translate complex economic insights into clear commentary for internal stakeholders and clients.

Key Responsibilities:
- Develop maintain and refine economic models (local & global)
- Track and analyse major global economies and key macro trends
- Present economic views to the Fixed Income team (weekly)
- Provide broader weekly economic updates to the wider business
- Produce written economic commentary / articles for publication
- Monitor approximately 14 African economies (high-level view)
- Engage with media (print & TV) when required
- Support investment-related due diligence documentation
- Travel for domestic client engagements and functions
Minimum Requirements:
- BCom degree or other relevant qualification
- Knowledge of investments / markets (advantageous)
- Relevant work experience (advantageous)
Key Competencies:
- Strong communication skills (well spoken presentable)
- Ability to simplify complex concepts for non-financial audiences
- Strong research ability and curiosity
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical thinking
- Self-starter able to work independently and ask for help when needed
- Comfortable in a flexible fast-paced environment
