The Design Drafter III is responsible for developing conceptual designs reviewing drawings and providing support to the engineering team. This role will design project-specific items to be manufactured by our Company and other companies. The Design Drafter III will facilitate internal workflow as required. This position collaborates in person and remotely with Project Management and Engineering professionals to develop design concepts and engineering job description represents only the primary areas of responsibility; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the department.

Your Responsibilities Will Be:

Research and reviews project requirements and design information to determine if it is sufficient to complete the design while ensuring that the design concept can be met.

Assists with the preparation of standard engineering documents and calculations using Autodesk Vault AutoCAD Inventor and iLogic software for drafting and design purposes.

Coordinates with other Project Managers and Engineers to establish essential functions and deadlines necessary to finish specific projects.

Determines appropriate methods to create drawings using either a CAD template customized to the clients requirements a standard template designed for the specific type of work or by updating an existing CAD file.

Analyzes drawings existing and proposed characteristics and other design data to plan and design projects.

Completes the drawing process using the information contained within the documents and in line with the Scope of Work; make necessary corrections to existing drawings following quality review process.

Reviews drawings from other drafters to ensure alignment with scoping and corporate drafting standards.

Assists project managers with preparation of work scopes and estimates for projects.

Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

An associate degree in Drafting or CAD Technology with 3-5 years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
(8 years of demonstrated experience in a mechanical engineering field in lieu of degree).

Working knowledge & experience with Autodesk Vault AutoCAD Inventor and iLogic software is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiarity with sheet metal and piping design is a plus.

Licensing/Certifications:

Skills test to demonstrate CAD capabilities is required.

ADA Requirements:

Positions in this function typically require typing sitting climbing balancing stooping kneeling crouching crawling reaching standing walking pushing pulling lifting fingering grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.

Concentrated mental and/or visual attention. The work involves performing complex tasks to very close accuracy and quality specifications or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.

The job is typically performed under comfortable working conditions; any disagreeable elements are generally absent during normal performance of job.

Compliance with company attendance standards.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift carry push pull or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
