The Trade Compliance Analyst plays a critical role in supporting a global sourcing organization operating in an increasingly complex trade and tariff environment. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate trade complianceincluding HTS classification tariff application and country-of-origin requirementswhile also delivering actionable cost and commodity and landed-cost analysis that informs sourcing pricing and margin decisions.

As global trade regulations continue to evolve this role bridges compliance sourcing and finance reduce regulatory risk and identify cost optimization opportunities. The Trade Compliance Analyst supports the sourcing team and cross-functional partners by translating trade and cost data into clear insights on landed cost tariff exposure and cost variance.

This role is highly analytical and detail-driven requiring both regulatory discipline and business acumen. It is expected to evolve alongside global trade dynamics offering opportunities to influence sourcing strategy supplier selection and long-term cost structure.

RESPONSIBLITIES

Trade Compliance & Custom Operations

  • Own and maintain accurate HTS classifications for raw materials components and finished goods.
  • Monitor and apply applicable tariffs duties and trade programs (including Section 232/301 ADD/CVD and free trade considerations).
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations country-of-origin marking and import documentation requirements.
  • Own and administer the Automated Commercial Environment (ACE) portal for U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) including post-entry corrections reconciliation support and partner government agency (PGA) reporting as applicable.
  • Monitor ACE data reports and communications to identify compliance risks discrepancies or audit triggers and proactively address issues.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and freight partners to resolve classification questions discrepancies and audit inquiries.
  • Maintain organized audit-ready trade compliance documentation and records.

Cost & Commodity Analysis

  • Quantify tariff duty and logistics impacts to gross margin and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Analyze commodity cost trends (e.g. steel alloys freight energy) and assess impacts to product cost and margin.
  • Perform cost variance analysis by part number supplier commodity and country of origin. Develop and maintain tariff-inclusive landed cost models to support sourcing and pricing decisions in collaboration with the Plant Controller.
  • Support make-versus-buy and regional sourcing evaluations using data-driven cost analysis.

Business & Cross-Functional Support

  • Partner with sourcing engineering finance and operations teams to assess cost and compliance impacts of new products supplier changes and engineering revisions.
  • Support sourcing negotiations with fact-based cost and tariff analysis.
  • Assist with ERP master data accuracy related to HTS codes country of origin duty rates and cost fields.
  • Provide executive-ready summaries risk assessments and recommendations to the sourcing team and leadership regarding trade exposure tariff risk and cost volatility.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management International Business Finance Economics or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Three to seven years of experience in trade compliance sourcing analytics cost analysis or global supply chain roles.
  • Working knowledge of HTS classification tariffs duties and landed-cost concepts.
  • Experience working with customs brokers freight forwarders and CBP-facing systems.
  • Familiarity with audit preparation prior disclosures or CBP inquiries Strong analytical skills with demonstrated experience in cost variance and commodity analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office particularly Excel; experience with ERP systems.
  • Preferred experience with Power BI or other data analytics and visualization tools to improve efficiency and develop reports supporting the sourcing organization.
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into practical business actions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • This is a primarily sedentary position involving long periods of sitting and working on a computer in a climate-controlled environment. Frequently required to sit stand bend stoop walk talk or hear. Uses hands to finger handle or touch objects or controls.
  • Ability to type on a keyboard and use a mouse to gather and input job information on a computer. Moderate to advanced skills in Excel ERP systems and fixed asset software.
  • Reading and comprehension. Ability to interpret and analyze data from company generated industry and financial reports. Evaluate and analyze international currency data.
  • Responsibilities require the ability to complete moderately complex mathematical computations budgeting financial closures forecasting and foreign currency conversions.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • May lift push or pull up to 50 pounds on rare occasion.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

  • Computer/sedentary position.
  • Intermittently will have to go onto the production floor resulting in exposure to loud noises sparks fumes chemicals and heavy equipment.
  • Position will mainly be in a temperature control office space.
