Join our team
We are looking for a motivated andhands onstudent assistant to support the assembly of electrical control cabinets andassistwith PLC programming tasks. This role is ideal for a technical student who enjoys practical work learning by doing and gainingreal worldexperience with industrial automation systems.
You will work closely with engineers to build wire and test small electrical cabinetsparticipatein systembring up and contribute toPLC relateddevelopment tasks. Youdontneed to be fully experienced-curiosity reliability and willingness to get your hands dirty are more important.
As our new Electrical Engineering student assistantyoullbecome part of theOptoElectricalEngineering team-a group of fourcolleagueswho collaborate across ofan environment where practical experimentationhands onlearning andcross-disciplinaryproblem-solvingare part of everyday life.
The role is parttime with an expected commitment of 1520 hours perweek andoffers a flexible schedule that allows you to balance your work and studies.
Professional and Personal Qualifications
You work carefully and methodically with strong attention to detail and the ability to follow technical instructions. You are reliablesafety minded and comfortable working independently whenrequired. A genuine interest in automation robotics or embedded systems will help you thrive in this role.
You are preferably early in your studies (bachelors or masters degree in a relevant field) with at least one yearremaining and your qualifications and experience may include:
Essential qualifications for the role:
- Basic understanding of electrical safety (e.g. safe handling oflow voltageequipment)
- Familiarity with basic electrical circuits and components (e.g. relays sensorsDINrailmodules)
- Some experience with coding (C/C Python or similar)
- Comfort withhand sonmechanical/electrical work such as wiring stripping cables assembling panels etc.
Preferred but not essential for the role:
- Experience with PLC programming (TwinCAT Siemens TIA Portal or similar)
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols (ModbusEtherCATIOLink etc.)
- Experience reading electrical schematics or cabinet layout drawings
- Familiarity withcontrol cabinetstandards ( managementbest practices)
- Basic experience with test equipment such asmultimeters continuity testers or oscilloscopes
