Job Summary

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:
Through a diverse suite of programs FSLN invests in grassroots leaders and amplifies innovative community-led solutions vital for systemic change. The FSLN plays a unique role in the broader change ecosystem by convening community leaders working across all sectors and scales of the food system to build relationships share knowledge and strategies sharpen skills and forge deeper collaboration. By providing access to resources building bridges across issue areas and nurturing a diverse pipeline of talent for the movement for food systems transformation FSLN accelerates both individual and collective efforts to build a food system that ensures good food health and opportunity for all.

In 2025 the FSLN embarked on an exciting new chapter transitioning from a program of the Wallace Center to an independent entity under the fiscal sponsorship of Multiplier. We are now building a dynamic experienced network backbone team to shepherd the FSLN during a time of significant change challenge and opportunity for the network and the people and communities it serves. The Network Outreach & Engagement Lead will play a critical role in this continued growth and evolution of the FSLN strengthening participation and belonging in the network enhancing the visibility and accessibility of opportunities across the movement and amplifying the stories and impact of the network and its members.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Network Outreach & Engagement Lead is responsible for deepening engagement across the FSLN community by leading outreach communications network weaving and relationship-building efforts. This role curates and shares resources and opportunities from across the food systems movement; manages FSLNs digital platforms and core communications channels; drives program recruitment for mentorship leadership retreats virtual trainings and other initiatives; and ensures members can easily connect with resources peers and learning opportunities. The role balances strategic leadership of FSLNs member outreach and engagement approach with hands-on execution of network communications.

The Network Outreach & Engagement Lead and the Network Programs & Partnerships Lead will work as close collaborators under the leadership of the FSLN Executive Director jointly stewarding the member experience from first connection through deep engagement. As the core network backbone team together these three staff ensure that FSLNs programs communications and partnerships are aligned accessible and responsive to the evolving needs of the network and the broader movement it is a part of. This small but mighty team collaborates with a diverse group of network members and partner organizations to realize the FSLNs mission including but not limited to the FSLN Leadership Council allied networks and coalitions mentors facilitators trainers and technical assistance providers.

As a project of Multiplier this role and the network backbone team are supported by Multipliers team of experienced professionals and trusted advisors who collaborate on operations strategy and shared learning. This collective approach helps the FSLN stay focused on impact while working within a values-aligned organizational home.

Key Responsibilities


Network Outreach Member Engagement & Relationship Building:
  • Develop and implement outreach and onboarding strategies to recruit new FSLN members and deepen participation and belonging among current members.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with and among network members partner organizations and movement leaders.
  • Lead outreach and recruitment for mentorship programs leadership retreats virtual trainings and other FSLN initiatives.
  • Create opportunities for members to connect and engage more fully and meaningfully in the network through events peer learning exchanges or collaborative projects.
  • Keep a pulse on the priorities and needs of network members partners and the movement more broadly channeling insights to the full backbone team to help identify and inform opportunities for network weaving relationship building and knowledge/skill exchange.
  • Track engagement trends and identify opportunities to expand accessibility and involvement across the membership.
  • Actively participate in FSLNs efforts to clarify and formalize its membership and governance model.
Communications & Storytelling:
  • Manage FSLNs overall communications strategy and create clear compelling content for the network.
  • Lead the production of the FSLNs monthly newsletter The Catalyst and curate and share opportunities resources events and funding calls from across the movement.
  • Lead impact storytelling effortscrafting stories that highlight network achievements member leadership innovations and movement-wide impact.
  • Develop recruitment and outreach materials for network services including one-pagers email campaigns presentations slide decks and promotional collateral.
  • Support policy and advocacy communications including action alerts and grassroots mobilization messages.
  • Represent FSLN through occasional public speaking presentations and external communications.
Digital Platforms & Content Management:
  • Manage the FSLN website to ensure content is current accessible and aligned with user needs.
  • Oversee recording formatting and posting of program materialsincluding webinar recordings and virtual training resources.
  • Manage FSLNs LinkedIn page including content creation scheduling and community interaction.
  • Manage organizational subscriptions memberships and relevant external group affiliations.
  • Coordinate with contractors or designers on website improvements branded assets and communications materials.
  • Develop an AI policy and strategy that is aligned with the networks values. Assess and incorporate additional communication tools and platforms as needed.
Cross-Promotion & Partner Coordination:
  • Identify opportunities to amplify partners work and coordinate cross-promotion efforts.
  • Curate and disseminate partner opportunities and resources aligned with member interests.
  • Support the development of fundraising collateral connected to outreach engagement and storytelling efforts.

Finally they are an exceptional communicator: someone who can translate complex information into clear compelling messages and who understands how thoughtful storytelling can shift narratives and strengthen our movement. This person is highly organized detail-oriented and comfortable juggling multiple projects while keeping deadlines and quality at the forefront. They enjoy being involved in shaping the processes and structures that make network ecosystems thrive while keeping a keen eye on meaningful member engagement connection and radical inclusion. They enjoy weaving together opportunities from many partners elevating member voices and leadership and crafting inspirational communications that make information and resources more accessible.


SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE REQUESTED:

  • A passion for the FSLNs mission and vision and a deep appreciation for the unique role of networks in systems change.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity justice and community-centered approaches to systems change.
  • 8 years of progressive work experience in communications community engagement organizing or network / coalition building. Having this experience in food systems community food work agriculture or adjacent movement-building contexts is strongly preferred.
  • Strong writing editing and storytelling skills with the ability to tailor communications to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience managing digital platforms websites and social media channels and ability to stay on top of the latest trends and tools.
  • Skilled at building relationships and working collaboratively with teams diverse partners and communities. Facilitation and process design skills are a major plus.
  • Highly organized detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfort with virtual collaboration tools and decentralized work environments.
  • Familiarity with network leadership peer learning or community of practice models.
  • Experience with basic graphic design CRM tools email marketing platforms or website content management systems.

Workplace Compensation and Application


Workplace & Travel: Remote within the United States with regular travel (at least 1-2 times per quarter) for in-person meetings with the team network members and partners conferences and other events.
Compensation: Multiplier provides a comprehensive compensation package including competitive salary ($85000 annual salary) excellent medical and dental benefits retirement savings and generous vacation and sick leave policy.
