Northwest Talent Solutions is recruiting on behalf of a global industrial manufacturing organization operating one of the largest aluminum extrusion facilities in North America. This is not a traditional desk engineering role this is a plant-embedded mechanical engineer position where your work directly impacts production uptime equipment reliability and safety.
If you enjoy solving real mechanical problems leading equipment upgrades and being on the floor where the machinery runs this role will fit you far better than a purely design-office environment.
What Youll Do:
You will lead capital equipment and reliability projects from concept through installation and start-up while working directly with production and maintenance teams.
Key responsibilities:

Design and upgrade heavy industrial equipment and machinery
-
Lead projects from scope definition through commissioning and start-up
-
Develop project scopes cost estimates and technical specifications
-
Manage contractors vendors and installation crews
-
Troubleshoot mechanical hydraulic and production equipment issues
-
Support maintenance teams with reliability and failure analysis
-
Review and approve vendor drawings and equipment proposals
-
Improve equipment efficiency and plant production performance
-
Coordinate with controls/automation engineers on machine operation
-
Communicate project schedules and technical plans across departments
-
Maintain and update engineering drawings and documentation
What You Bring:
-
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)
-
10 years of heavy industrial or manufacturing plant experience
-
Hands-on machinery troubleshooting and installation experience
-
Strong mechanical systems and machine design knowledge
-
Project management experience in a production environment
-
Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
-
Experience reading and creating engineering drawings
-
Working knowledge of AutoCAD
-
Strong communication with operators maintenance and contractors
-
Comfortable working directly on a plant floor
Highly Preferred:

Metals processing extrusion rolling forging steel or similar industries

High-speed manufacturing equipment
-
Robotics or automation exposure
-
Hydraulic systems
-
Reliability engineering or maintenance engineering background

Capital equipment upgrades and commissioning
