JOB SUMMARY: The Licensed Respiratory Therapist (RT) provides respiratory care services to patients in all areas of the hospital in accordance with established policies and procedures and as prescribed by a physician. This individual will interact with patients of all ages. The Licensed Respiratory Therapist will practice this profession in such capacities as are prescribed by NYS Law Title VIII Education Law and the Respiratory Department job description.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Have received an education including completion of an approved Associate Degree Program in Respiratory Therapy or in a program determined by the Department of the State Board to be the equivalent.
Licensure/Registration/Certification:
- Licensed as a Respiratory Therapist to practice in New York State.
- Basic Life Support certified; Neonatal Resuscitation Provider certification preferred
Working Conditions:
Manual: Little or no manual skills/motor coord & finger dexterity
Occupational: Little or no potential for occupational risk
Physical Effort: Sedentary/light effort. May exert up to 10 lbs. force
Physical Environment: Generally pleasant working conditions
