The Educational Technology Leader is an evolving role at Discovery College comprising both a leadership role and a coaching aspect. This role is intended for someone with a significant teaching background.


Job Summary

The Educational Technology Leader is an evolving role at Discovery College comprising both a leadership role and a coaching aspect. This role is intended for someone with a significant teaching background. Working with school leaders as well as teachers and students across Years 1-13 the Educational Technology Leader acts as a bridge between whole-college school enhancement planning educational technology and classroom practice. The successful applicant will drive the schools digital strategy by working with senior and middle leaders as well as directly in the classroommodeling lessons and co-teachingto ensure technology is used meaningfully and inclusively. Their focus will be on leading the integration of emerging tools (like AI) managing large-scale system rollouts and using data to personalise the learning experience. Ultimately the Educational Technology Leader is there to foster a culture of innovation ensuring every teacher is empowered and every student has equitable access to modern learning tools.

The ideal candidate is a pedagogy-first innovative teacher who can translate emerging trends like AI into practical classroom strategies that support student success and engagement. They are an empathetic coach and data-informed leader dedicated to empowering teachers and ensuring equitable personalised learning for every student. They must be able to balance high-level strategic planning with a hands-on approach to classroom support. This role may include teaching up to one class aligned with the background of the candidate. Applicants with the ability to teach DP Computer Science are particularly encouraged to apply.


Main Accountabilities

Pedagogical Leadership

  • Lead and support school teachers and leaders in designing and implementing meaningful strategies to integrate technology into classrooms
  • Model teaching practices co-teach and offer in-class support to enhance learning and student engagement through technology.
  • Be a voice in the design and implementation of key DC initiatives such as curriculum and pedagogy projects Learning Diversity support etc
  • Support the planning integration and roll out of new systems for example the new ESF Student Information/Teaching and Learning System (the ESF Hub)
  • Foster a learning environment across the College that is both personalised and inclusive using educational technology tools to help meet student needs
  • Develop clarity around technology integration as new tools become available; for example supporting the effective integration of AI tools
  • Represent DC in ESF wide groups and committees related to Educational Technology as needed

Collaboration and Innovation

  • Collaborate with school teams to align technology integrationwith school goals
  • Support teachers as they look to experiment and innovate with new technologies and approaches to enhance student learning
  • Promote continuous innovation in digital and modern teaching methods across the College

Professional Development

  • Design and lead professional development sessions to build teachers capacity for meaningful technology integration
  • Provide workshops and one-on-one coaching focused on the practical use of AI technology integration frameworks and other key educational tools
  • Stay updated on emerging educational technology trends and bring innovative solutions to schools

Data - Driven Instruction

  • Support the use of a wide range of data to drive personalisation within our classroom
  • Collect and analyse data on educational technology usage to inform instructional practices and drive improvements
  • Use data to provide recommendations and ensure the long-term success and sustainability of technology integration initiatives

Equity and Inclusion

  • Advocate for equitable access to technology for all students promoting inclusive practices that cater to diverse learners
  • Work with the Learning Diversity Team to ensure appropriate adaptive tools are available for teachers and students as appropriate

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Education or Bachelors Degree in any field with a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate of Education) or equivalent
  • 5 years of post-qualification teaching experience.
  • An understanding of the IB and the key underpinnings of the curriculum frameworks is essential
