As a Cabin Leader you are a vital member of our camp community. You will mentor and supervise a cabin group of campers creating a safe positive and inclusive environment where young people can learn grow and build lifelong friendships. You will guide daily routines lead outdoor adventures and serve as a role model who embodies the YMCA-YWCAs core values of caring honesty respect and responsibility.

HOW youll create Moments that Matter:
You will mentor and supervise a cabin group fostering belonging and positive group dynamics while serving as a strong role model. You will plan and deliver engaging age-appropriate activities ensure the physical and emotional safety of campers and manage group dynamics with care and professionalism. You will also support camp-wide programming maintain accurate documentation and collaborate with co-leaders and staff to create a safe seamless and memorable camp experience.
Youll bring:
- Experience working with children or youth in a camp educational or recreational setting
- Experience leading group activities team-building initiatives or outdoor programs
- Strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills with a positive energetic presence
- Knowledge of group facilitation conflict resolution and behaviour management techniques
- Adaptability and strong problem-solving skills in dynamic fast-paced outdoor environments
- Ability to multitask remain composed under pressure and contribute both independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to live and work in a remote outdoor setting with physically demanding tasks such as paddling lifting and carrying equipment
- Commitment to completing the Y Winnipeg Camp Stephens Training Pathway (paid training provided if certifications are not yet obtained)
- Required certifications: Bronze Cross (Bronze Medallion prerequisite assumed) Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C
How Y Winnipeg Supports Your Impact:
- Compensation: $58.33 - $68.33 per day
- Professional Development: Paid training and certification opportunities; applicants who do not yet have all required certifications are encouraged to apply as training and support may be available
- On-site Accommodation: Includes board and lodging while on trip
