Minimum payis $29.57/ hr (there is an opportunity for Mechanic II wage with ASE Certification)
Mechanic I range $29.57- $35.72/ hr
Mechanic II range $31.64- $38.22/ hr
What are the primary job duties
- Perform major diesel engine repair and overhauls on a variety of highway related equipment.
- Perform mechanical maintenance upkeep repair and overhaul on all related highway equipment. Work to include repair of electrical systems hydraulic systems transmissions differential and other motor train related repairs.
- Repair and maintenance on chassis and bodies of vehicles and highwayconstruction equipment.
- Perform mechanical responsibilities in the highway shop on the road andin the field.
- Provide proper winter maintenance such as plowing snow salting and sanding of hazardous winter conditions when needed.
- Must be available to be called to work seven days a week twenty-four hours a day to handle emergency work conditions to provide safe and economic conditions.
What are the minimum requirements
- High school diploma or its equivalent required. Associate in diesel mechanics preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the commercial industrial or private mechanic shop. Experience in diesel and heavy construction equipment preferred.
- Commercial drivers license (CDL) or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire and safe driving record. Must possess a safe driving record.
- Any combination of experience and professional training which provides the necessary knowledge skills and abilities.
