MERSD is seeking a Literacy Instructional Coach for the remainder of the 25-26 school year. Job Summary: The Literacy Instructional Coach will provide coaching and professional learning that is thoughtfully and intentionally embedded into daily teaching and learning cycles. The goal of this position is to support curriculum implementation and improve instructional practices leading to deepened opportunities for student learning and achievement in literacy. An emphasis will be placed on ensuring vertical and horizontal alignment of literacy curriculum instruction and assessment. Given the availability of staff for professional development and individualized coaching a flexible schedule will be Job Functions:- Collaborate with the Director of Curriculum Principals individual educators and teams of educators to determine training needs of staff- Build trusting relationships with students teachers families and administrators- Support the planning implementation and assessment of effective literacy instruction- Support integration of UDL strategies in teacher practices- Identify design and facilitate job-embedded professional learning as well as school-wide/district-based Professional Development- Provide professional learning opportunities to teachers across the school year outside school hours and with summer work. Due to the nature of the role there is an expectation that there will be a need for flexible scheduling. - Co-teach model lessons and consult with teachers- Observe and provide non-evaluative feedback to support teacher instructional practices- Provide coaching and consultation for educators while modeling effective research-based instructional strategies- Collaborate with educators in a variety of roles on iterative data-informed coaching cycles including data analysis and action planning- Engage with the MTSS interventionist team to ensure data-driven effective tiered intervention is meeting the needs of all learners.- Participate on school and district committees that support curriculum instruction and professional development- Continually analyze performance data to support adjustments in curriculum and programming- Engage in school-based and district-based community events- Provide outreach and effective communication to families to support literacy at home- Stay current with research and practices within the field of literacy education and share information with appropriate staff- Engage in state content and leadership networks and job-alike groups- Collaborate with Mathematics Instructional Coach to plan coaching cycles and professional learning structures- Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Building Principals and Director of Curriculum
