The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking highly qualified and skilled accounting and finance professionals for the role of Financial Operations Team Leader (FOTL).
The ideal candidate would have a strong technical accounting background in a school or government setting with familiarity of auditing principles as well as state/federal funding requirements.
The FOTL manages plans organizes coordinates and directs the activities of staff responsible for providing accounting and financial reporting budgeting and compliance monitoring; develops implements and maintains business and financial systems processes and procedures designed to improve the budgeting financial and operational support to internal and external clients.
The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following
Knowledge:
Principles and practices of budget development budget administration accounting financial administration and financial reporting
Enterprise level business and financial systems and applications
Methods and techniques of financial research and analysis
State federal and local laws and administrative regulations for budgeting forecasting accounting auditing financial reporting and related systems as they pertain to school accounting
Applicable sections of the Education Code and federal and state financial management regulations
Computer hardware and software related to financial management
Microsoft Office Word Excel PowerPoint and other applicable programs
Fundamental concepts of employment laws codes and regulations including EEO FLSA FMLA and Cal/OSHA and applicable provisions of collective bargaining agreements
Competencies:
Analyzing & Interpreting Data Drawing meaning and conclusions from quantitative and/or qualitative data
Critical Thinking Analytically and logically evaluating information propositions and claims
Decision Making Choosing optimal courses of action in a timely manner

Required Education and ExperienceEducation:A bachelors degree in business administration accounting finance or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Experience:Five years of experience in analyzing and reconciling accounts; budget preparation; and financial analysis forecasting monitoring reporting and auditing; using business or financial systems applications including two years of supervisory experience.
Additional Requirements:A valid California drivers license and availability of private transportation or ability to provide transportation between job sites may be required.
Hybrid remote schedules may be available. To ensure the health and safety of its staff LACOE may require employees to provide evidence of full vaccination against COVID-19.
Selection ProcessCandidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a performance assessment and/or a technical interview.
