Design & Technology Teacher – Derby

This is a full-time permanent position suitable for both experienced practitioners and Early Career Teachers who are passionate about practical learning and creative problem-solving.

The Role

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality Design & Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 with the potential for Key Stage 5 teaching depending on experience. Key responsibilities include:

• Planning and delivering engaging hands-on lessons aligned with the national curriculum and examination specifications.

• Teaching core areas such as product design resistant materials and design processes.

• Supporting students in developing practical workshop skills and safe working practices.

• Preparing students for GCSE examinations and coursework moderation.

• Assessing monitoring and reporting on student progress.

• Contributing to curriculum development and departmental improvement planning.

• Supporting enrichment opportunities such as STEM clubs design competitions and project showcases.

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

• Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology.

• Confident classroom management and workshop supervision skills.

• Understanding of health and safety requirements within a practical environment.

• Ability to motivate and inspire students of varying abilities.

• Commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education.
