Job Highlights
Youth Apprentices in our Phlebotomy Assistant career pathway help to provide a welcoming environment to patients and assist with specimen collection all while ensuring a safe work environment. Youll partner with a licensed/certified professional who will serve as your mentor and will help guide your training while providing ongoing support in the role.
Job Details
Effectively work as part of a team communicate effectively with close attention to details
Maintain academic and attendance requirements for participation in the Youth Apprenticeship Program
Participate in progress reviews scheduled with mentors school staff parent(s) or guardian(s) and employer
Assist with patient check in assuring two identifiers are used to confirm identity
Deliver samples to the laboratory and perform administrative duties to support the department including the cleaning and maintenance of collection area and equipment
Under the direction of an experienced professional and upon completed training assist with the collection and preparation of blood and other specimens
Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
High school junior or senior
16 years of age
Must be authorized and approved by the Wisconsin Youth Apprentice Program in accordance with your local school criteria
Reliable transportation to get to and from work
Satisfactory progress towards graduation
Commit to completing 450 hours at the jobsite (10-15 hours per week)
Demonstrated maturity and responsibility
Skill with attending to details excellent attendance and a strong work ethic
Foster a culture of caring through interpersonal relationships and communication
