QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum high school diploma; two years of college preferred. Child Advocate must have experience in working with children. Completion of advocacy training required within three months of hire. Child Advocate must be certification in first aid and C.P.R. Willingness to submit to drug screening and background checks.
JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for crisis intervention individual and group counseling and for case management services to child participants. The Child Advocate works closely with the Shelter and Advocacy Coordinator to ensure a safe healthy ethical environment conducive to participant healing. The Child Advocate in conjunction with Shelter and Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for on-going development of child programs. Answer hotline calls conduct intake paperwork and exit interviews for all participants that come in and out of shelter.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Coordinates basic needs assessment intervention and supportive counseling services for children. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assuring that needs assessments safety plans and initial interviews with children and/or their mothers (depending on childs age) are completed within 72 hours of admission into the shelter.
Monitoring that all children are seen in shelter individually and/or in groups at least weekly. Topics of child intervention should be age appropriate and are to include:
i. domestic violence
ii. safety planning
iii. conflict resolution
iv. dealing with anger
v. self-esteem
2. Provide guidance and counseling services in a group setting to child residents.
3. Provide evening activities to children in shelter through therapeutic and recreational activities to include tutoring birthday parties and holiday events.
4. Maintain contact with non-offending parent regarding child/childrens behavior progress and/or any concerns.
5. Maintain thorough and accurate client service records and statistics. Responsibilities include:
Collecting and reporting client service statistics on a monthly basis to the Director of Domestic Violence Services.
Tracking and reporting client outcomes and client feedback data.
Maintaining accurate up-to-date and complete client records.
6. Participate in weekly case review meetings
7. Maintain confidentiality in all matters of Quigley House.
8. Avails self to available training as required.
9. Every staff member is responsible to do the following:
Understand and promote the culture of philanthropy.
Serve as a philanthropic ambassador within the organization and community.
Help cultivate relationships on behalf of and in support of the organization.
Work with development staff to support grant applications and other development activities.
10. In addition to the above responsibilities all employees of Quigley House:

Display a commitment to the mission of the agency and adhere to all policies and procedures
Present a positive public image of the program through a high level of professionalism
Have the ability to travel work flexible hours and maintain a positive leadership role.
11. Assume other duties as assigned by the Director of Domestic Violence Services.
Compensation: $18.11 per hour
