Role Overview : We are seeking a highly experienced Network Consultant to support the deployment and configuration of NetScout Infini Stream and nGenius ONE in a large enterprise network environment. The consultant will be responsible for configuring traffic acquisition (SPAN/TAP) validating packet capture and supporting deep packet inspection (DPI) monitoring and alerting across multiple NYC locations.

This role requires hands-on expertise in routing protocols (BGP MPLS OSPF) and strong experience implementing packet capture solutions in production environments.

Key Responsibilities

Assign ports and configure IP addressing for NetScout management interfaces.
Configure SPAN ports to mirror traffic required for monitoring.
Implement TAP links into the production path without impacting live traffic.
Configure port mirroring and traffic acquisition for NetScout devices.
Validate packet capture on each device and configure alert thresholds.
Support troubleshooting using packet-level analysis and deep packet inspection tools.

Mandatory Requirements

Minimum 15 years of networking experience including routing protocols in large environments.
Hands-on experience with BGP MPLS and OSPF.
Minimum 15 years of deep packet inspection (DPI) experience.
Proven experience deploying and rolling out NetScout Infini Stream solutions.
Ability to work a hybrid schedule (3 days onsite / 2 days remote) in NYC.

Preferred Qualifications

Expert-level experience configuring nGeniusONE including:
- Service Dashboards
- Custom Monitors
- Alerting Profiles using ASI (Adaptive Service Intelligence)
Experience with additional routing protocols: EIGRP iBGP/eBGP IS-IS.
Experience deploying network management/telemetry protocols (4 years):
- SNMPv3 Syslog NetFlow etc.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Experience reviewing project design and system documentation (4 years).
Experience creating network architecture/design diagrams in MS Visio.
Familiarity with City of New York network environments and processes.
Advanced packet-level troubleshooting skills across protocols such as:
- HTTP/S SQL DNS VoIP/SIP

Special Requirements

Travel within NYC (five boroughs) required.
Onsite presence required for maintenance windows as needed.
Travel expenses are not reimbursed.
