Background
:

We are recruiting for an experienced interim IT Security Operations manager for our IT operations team responsible for safeguarding the Firms technology environment.

This manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Arthur Coxs operational security to continuously maintain a strong IT security posture aligned with the firms overall IT security strategy which will underpin seamless business digital services delivery innovation & growth.

The role involves defining implementing operating and monitoring operational performance of IT policies processes and controls in all areas of the IT Security landscape including infrastructure (on-prem hosted & Cloud) endpoint and application patching vulnerability remediation access management network (LAN & WAN) Security and more providing technical expertise to the firm and overseeing continuous technical improvement to ensure Arthur Coxs mission critical infrastructure systems and applications remain highly secure.


About the Role:

To be successful in the role you will need to work with a broad range of stakeholders both within the IT department and across the firm bringing a firm first and collaborative particular the interim IT Security Operations Manager will need to work very closely and collaboratively with the IT Infrastructure and Cloud operations manager.

Key Responsibilities


  • Oversee daily operations of IT Security Services across the Firm including on-premises Infrastructure and Cloud services end user computing (EUC) and applications in line with industry security best practice to continuously maintain/improve the firms IT security posture.
  • Work collaboratively within the IT function Risk & Compliance and external managed service providers/trusted third parties to ensure frictionless and effective operations of security controls proactively implement process optimisation and ensure all configurations meet the required security standards.
  • Lead and manage a team of Security Operations analysts and specialists providing coaching mentoring and guidance to foster technical excellence and high performance instil a culture of continuous improvement and promote an ITIL-driven operational mindset.
  • Participate in the Information Security Committee (ISOC) to help shape and oversee the security program to ensure that security initiatives align with the firms business objectives and keep up with the evolving threat landscape.
  • Manage/Participate in the security incident response lifecycle including preparation detection containment recovery and the resolution of security incident tickets ensuring detailed post-incident analysis and reporting.
  • Actively support the Head of IT Operations Infrastructure and Security in evaluating new and emerging technologies for suitability and appropriateness for the firm to ensure tooling and technical solutions are adequate for the changing threat landscape.
  • Conduct horizon scanning and actively monitor the emerging trends in security management & best practices to maintain proactive defence strategies and support the Head of IT Operations Infrastructure and Security in making the case for future investment in IT security.
  • Actively support the Head of IT Operations Infrastructure and Security to develop and implement a comprehensive enterprise information security and IT Risk Management program.
  • Participate in the firms change control processes to assess and mitigate security risks.
  • Establishment appropriate dashboards and reports to provide regular updates on security operations SLAs performance and effectiveness while ensuring all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and other supporting documentation related to security operations is maintained.
  • Support Risk & Compliance led initiatives including (but not limited to) ISO 27001 GDPR as required to ensure compliance with the firms regulatory and security standards as well as continuing to meet client expectations in relation to the firms security posture.
  • Participate in technical projects related to IT security ensuring alignment with the firms objectives and compliance requirements and collaborate and coordinate with various teams to ensure seamless project delivery and onboarding of new processes and tools.

Skills Knowledge and Expertise


  • Bachelors degree in computer science Information Technology Cybersecurity or related field AND
  • 8 years of relevant experience in security operations and management with at least 3 years in a leadership/management role.
  • A proven track record of successfully managing teams external service providers and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience leveraging ITIL frameworks and demonstrable experience of applying ITIL driven best practices to manage IT security operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans aligning technology initiatives with business goals.
  • Familiarity with governance frameworks risk management and compliance standards including GDPR and ISO 27001 and industry best practice.
  • Certifications (Highly desirable):
  1. ITIL Foundation or ITIL Managing Professionals
  2. CISSP CISM CEH SANS GIAC or other equivalent industry certification.
  3. Microsoft Information Security Administrator Associate.
  4. Microsoft Azure Security Engineer Associate.

Skills and competencies essential for the role

Technical Skills:
Deep technical acumen in IT security technologies security standards and industry best practices combined with a strong track record of working with security controls across one or more domains:
  • Cloud technologies: M365 Azure MS Intune Cloud management and automation tools.
  • Infrastructure/Cloud/Network Security Entra ID Identity Management.
  • Endpoint security.
  • Data Security.
  • Vulnerability Remediation.
  • Security Information & Event Management (SIEM) etc.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to complex technical problems.

Management Skills: A track record of successfully leading and managing teams and driving cross-department and cross firm collaboration to achieve business outcomes:
  • Ability to attract retrain and motivate a high performing team of security analysts and specialists.
  • Ability to balance and manage multiple competing priorities and work effectively under pressure. (manage own and team workload meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment).
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (technical and business audiences)

Stakeholder Management: Ability to establish effective and productive professional relationships with a wide audience and effectively manage stakeholder expectations.
