Summary
The Seibold and Moore Laboratories are seeking a passionate and highly motivated Postgraduate Scholar to join our cutting-edge NIH-funded research team. Our laboratories bring together an interdisciplinary group of experts in cell biology skin and molecular biology alongside experts in computational biology bioinformatics and statistical genetics. Our research focuses on unraveling the complex pathobiological mechanisms underlying atopic dermatitis food allergy asthma and other allergic diseases. The goal of our work is to identify and characterize pathobiological subtypes (i.e. endotypes) of allergic disease and to determine the genetic environmental and immunological factors that drive disease development progression and treatment response.
We have an exciting postdoctoral position available for a researcher to lead and conduct innovative investigations of how different types of skin pathobiology (i.e. endotypes) present in early life underlie the development of atopic dermatitis and how this early life skin dysfunction subsequently leads to the development of other allergic diseases including food allergy allergic rhinitis and asthma.
Specifically the successful candidate will:
- Perform transcriptomic profiling of longitudinal skin samples collected from a multi-center birth cohort study to determine inflammatory endotypes of atopic dermatitis in infancy and whether these patterns of dysregulation contribute to the development of food allergy in infancy.
- Identify common patterns of allergic disease development in early life and describe the differences in molecular and cellular development of the skin that underlie the atopic march and other patterns of allergic disease development and resolution.
- Use whole genome- and RNA-seq data to identify eQTLs that influence early life skin expression and longitudinal skin development among allergic disease groups.
We are looking for candidates with a Ph.D. or strong background computational biology bioinformatics or biostatistics. Experience in analyzing bulk and single cell RNA-seq data performing differential expression analyses cell type deconvolution eQTL and transcriptome wide association studies (TWAS) is highly desired. Expertise is cell or skin biology molecular biology and/or immunology is also desired. Relevant laboratory skills include human primary tissue culture immune cell phenotyping scRNA-seq and other genomic/genetic characterization techniques. The ideal applicant will possess critical thinking skills a strong ability to interpret and analyze complex data and the capability to clearly communicate findings. A commitment to collaboration is essential as the role involves working closely with both internal teams and external research collaborators with regular participation in project-focused meetings.
This is an on-site full-time position offering a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact research in allergic disease biology. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter along with their application.
Join us in advancing the understanding of allergic disease pathobiology and making strides toward novel therapeutic approaches.
