Your Team & Role

Prudential is on a technology modernizationjourneyand APIs are at the heart of it. We are building a team to enablean APItransformation across the enterprise. A new API gateway is being built enhancements to our API portal strategy are underway and the evangelization and education of developers for an API-centric/design first environment has begun.

As a Lead Developer for the API COE team within the CTO you will work with a product owner to lead the critical technology strategy for API Management at Prudential. Specifically you will contribute hands-on todeliver onan API governance standardization and enterprise-usable API transformation program. You willpartnerwith product owners tech leads and most importantly business application development teams to enable them on the Enterprise API platform. You will enable API best practices engineer automated pipelines for building APIs while creating reusable reliable consistent and scalable APIs for consumption across and outside of Prudential.

Here is What You Can Expect on a Typical Day

  • Define automate and execute on API transformation inclusive of security specification and operability standards

  • Partner with your Tech Lead toexecute ontechnical delivery

  • Influence product roadmap based onanpartnerships with the business and potential to simplify and reduce code duplication and improve the API strategy.

  • Provide technicalexpertiseas it relates to API management API platform infrastructure and API development.

  • Work with application development teams to enable the API transformation; provide coaching on API best practices review use cases andassistwith the migration to the new API platform

  • Lead with anIaCand automation mindset promoting frequentsmall changes.

  • Identifyopportunities for simplification in API development and platform management processes.

The Skills &ExpertiseYou Bring

  • Significant experiencewith API strategy; domain-driven and specification-based designmethodology developer portals REST best practices APIstandardizationand governance

  • Significant API Architecture knowledge including RESTGraphQL GRPCWebsockets and Async API capabilities

  • Experience building and managing API/Developer Portals

  • Experience with API management strategies and API gateway technologies (Kongapigeemulesoft layer7 etc.)

  • Experience in API design & tools;swaggerhub stoplight RESTGraphQL GRPCasyncAPI

  • Experiencewithworking in technology transformation in an enterprise setting

  • Deep cloud & infrastructure management knowledge & experience

  • Strong technical experience in

  • Application Development Automation and Infrastructure as Code

  • Java PythonNodeJs Go etc.

  • AngularReactJs etc.

  • Terraform CloudFormation ansible or similar

  • Cloud Architecture resiliency andmulti regiondesign strategies.

  • Experience with EKS ECS or other containerization platforms

  • Authentication and Authorization Oauth2

  • Edge Security & WAF

  • Observability metrics logging and end-to-end tracing

  • DevOps and branching models to support frequent changes (e.g. trunk)

  • Regression unit contract performance and stress testing

  • Production operations and incident response for a global high-volume platform

  • Lead and effectivelyleveragediverse ideas experiences thoughts and perspectives to the benefit of the organization.

  • Ability to learn new skills and knowledge on anon-goingbasis through self-initiative and tackling challenges.

  • Excellent problem solving communication and collaboration skills; enjoy learning new skills.

  • BachelorsDegreeor equivalent relevant experience

  • Expertisewith several of the following:

Prudential is required by state specific laws to include the salary range for this role when hiring a resident in applicable locations. The salary range for this role is from $133600.00 to $220400.00. Specific pricing for the role may vary within the above range based on many factors including geographic location candidate experience and skills.
