Job Title: Junior SQL Server DBA

Location: London/hybrid

We have an exciting opportunity with an established organisation for a Junior SQL Server DBA. This is the perfect role for someone who wants to grow and develop their skills further.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for someone with a genuine passion for databases and a strong desire to learn and grow in a supportive environment.

This role focuses on Business As Usual (BAU) database operations rather than advanced development or data analysis.

Youll work closely with experienced DBAs taking ownership of routine but critical tasks while building hands-on skills and knowledge in a real-world insurance environment where data reliability and availability are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

- Perform daily/weekly/monthly database backups and verify successful completion

- Monitor database health performance and alerts using established tools

- Execute and schedule SQL scripts and maintenance jobs

- Assist with routine database administration tasks such as user access management basic troubleshooting and log reviews

- Support incident resolution by following team procedures and escalating when needed

- Help maintain database documentation and runbooks

- Have a keen interest in databases and data management

- Be eager to learn and develop technical skills quickly

- Show attention to detail and a responsible approach to critical systems

- Have basic familiarity with SQL (queries basic scripting) training will be provided on specifics

- Demonstrate good problem-solving skills and the ability to follow processes

- Be a team player who communicates clearly and enjoys collaborative working

Nice-to-Have (but not essential)

- Any exposure to relational databases (e.g. SQL Server Oracle PostgreSQL)

- Understanding of basic IT concepts (servers storage networks)

- Previous experience in any IT support helpdesk or junior technical role
