About the Role:
The Program Specialist/Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) plays a pivotal role in designing implementing and evaluating therapeutic recreation programs that enhance the physical emotional and social well-being of diverse client populations. This position requires a deep understanding of therapeutic recreation principles to create individualized and group activities that promote health independence and quality of life. The specialist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to assess client needs develop treatment plans and monitor progress toward therapeutic goals. Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Therapeutic Recreation Recreation Therapy or a related field.
- Current certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) through the National Council for Therapeutic Recreation Certification (NCTRC).
- Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing therapeutic recreation programs.
- Strong knowledge of therapeutic recreation principles techniques and best practices.
- Ability to conduct client assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
Responsibilities:
- Develop plan and implement therapeutic recreation programs tailored to meet the needs of clients with varying abilities and conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients recreational interests abilities and therapeutic goals to inform individualized treatment plans.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals social workers and family members to coordinate care and integrate therapeutic recreation into overall treatment strategies.
- Monitor and document client progress adjusting programs as necessary to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes.
- Provide education and training to staff clients and families on therapeutic recreation techniques and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws regulations and accreditation standards related to therapeutic recreation services.
- Manage program resources including equipment and supplies to maintain a safe and effective therapeutic environment.
- Participate in continuous professional development and contribute to program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
