Grinder / Grinding Machine Operator Aerospace (2nd Shift) Location: Confidential (Aerospace Manufacturing Facility)

Position Summary
We are seeking a Grinder / Grinding Machine Operator for an aerospace manufacturing facility. This role performs precision grinding and finishing operations on aerospace components to meet exact surface finish dimensional tolerance and engineering specifications.
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with grinding machinery understands close tolerances and is committed to safety and quality in a fast-paced production environment. Prior exposure to aerospace casting forgings or structural components is preferred.
Key Responsibilities

Set up and operate grinding equipment including belt grinders pedestal grinders and specialty abrasive machines

Smooth blend and finish metal surfaces to meet engineering tolerances
-
Select and change abrasive belts wheels and discs as needed
-
Load and secure parts in jigs and fixtures for grinding operations
-
Monitor grinding process to maintain surface finish quality and part integrity
-
Use precision measurement tools (e.g. micrometers radius gauges templates) to verify work
-
Detect and report unusual machine operation or material conditions
-
Maintain clean organized and safe work area
-
Follow prescribed safety quality and production procedures
-
Communicate with supervision regarding progress and issues
Required Qualifications

Previous experience operating grinding equipment in a manufacturing environment

Ability to interpret simple blueprints and basic shop orders
-
Familiarity with precision measurement tools
-
Strong attention to detail and quality standards
-
Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
-
Ability to work reliably on 2nd shift
Preferred Qualifications

Aerospace manufacturing or aerospace components experience
-
Experience grinding high-tolerance parts (e.g. castings forgings)
-
Experience with specialized grinding fixtures or jigs
-
Understanding of surface finish requirements and tool selection
Skills & Competencies

Operate grinding equipment safely and effectively
-
Select proper abrasives and tooling for part requirements
-
Check parts for tolerance and surface finish to accepted standards
-
Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members
-
Maintain work area and tools in good working condition
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

On-site manufacturing environment

Frequent standing walking and manual handling
-
Ability to lift and move parts and tooling as needed

Required use of PPE (safety glasses hearing protection etc.)
