Think youve got what it takes In this role you will: - Promote a strong safety culture internally and externally maintaining Cooper Steels core priorities: Safety Quality and Production
- Visit sub-fabrication shops to monitor and verify adherence to AISC and/or company quality standards collaborating to prevent and resolve quality issues while promoting continuous improvement
- Audit sub-fabricators quality documentation including inspection reports NDT records welder qualifications and MTRs and confirm their maintenance of accurate material traceability and current certifications
- Manage and communicate inspection results and concerns to the QA Manager and project teams
- Provide evaluations and recommendations on performance of systems and operations
- Stay current with relevant AISC AWS and ASTM standards
If youre ready to build with us were looking for someone with: - 35 years of experience in quality or fabrication in the structural steel industry
- Working knowledge of AISC 207 AISC 360 AISC 303 and AWS D1.1
- Familiarity with NDT methods welding processes and fabrication documentation
- Ability to read and interpret shop drawings weld symbols and specifications
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel regularly to sub-fabricator locations
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or equivalent certification (preferred)
- Experience with AISC certification programs and audits (preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills communicating and working effectively with a diverse range of individuals
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills
- Comfortable operating in both office and shop settings
- Detail-oriented with highly developed functional technical and organizational skills
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs use hands for gripping and grasping and pass specific vision requirements
- Ability to work flexible hours and willing to work overtime
