Job Summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Hydraulics Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside experienced water resources and transportation professionals gain hands-on experience and contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office. Preference will be given to candidates who can participate for at least three months and work full-time.

In this role you will support senior and junior engineers on a variety of transportation and infrastructure projects with a focus on hydrology hydraulics and stormwater management. Projects may include roadway drainage systems culverts stormwater management facilities erosion and sediment control and green infrastructure solutions. Candidates should have a strong interest in hydraulics water resources and transportation infrastructure design.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for transportation and infrastructure projects under the supervision of senior staff.

  • Support the development of stormwater management reports drainage studies and technical memoranda.

  • Assist with storm drain culvert and erosion and sediment control design tasks.

  • Utilize hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software (such as HEC-RAS StormCAD or similar tools) as appropriate to assigned tasks.

  • Assist in the preparation of drawings using MicroStation OpenRoads Designer or AutoCAD.

  • Format reports calculations and specifications to support project documentation.

  • Support project file management including organization of electronic documents printing and scanning as needed.

  • Gain exposure to permitting processes including NPDES and local or state stormwater requirements.

  • Utilize company-wide and department-specific software to complete assigned tasks.

  • Gain practical experience and broad exposure to STVs organizational structure through diverse assignments and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Required:

  • Currently pursuing a bachelors or masters degree in Civil Engineering Environmental Engineering Biological Engineering Agricultural Engineering or a related discipline at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.

  • Coursework or demonstrated interest in hydraulics hydrology stormwater management or water resources engineering.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.

Compensation Range:

$45675.00 - $51903.00
